Prawn Pulao in Coconut Milk
Prawn Pulao is not only easy to make but simply yummy and delicious. The prawn adds a special flavour to the rice while the coconut milk adds a creamy texture to the taste buds.
Ingredients
- For the Prawn Gravy
- Prawn - 10-15 ( medium sized cleaned and deveined )
- Basmati Rice - 2 cups
- Onion - 4 medium sized ( finely chopped)
- Ginger Garlic paste - 1 1/2 tsp
- Tamrind pulp - 1/4 cup
- Red Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Garam Masala - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Oil - 1/4 cup
- For the Rice
- Basmati Rice - 2 cups ( washed and drained)
- Onion - 2 medium sized ( finely chopped)
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Cloves - 2-3
- Bay Leaf - 2
- Black Peppercons - 8-10
- Cardamom - 2-3
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Lemon juice - 2 tsp
- Oil - tsp
- Salt
Instructions
For the Prawn Gravy
Marinate the prawns with salt, turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste.
In a pan add ¼ cup oil add onions and fry until slightly brown add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and sauté.
Add red chilli powder and garam masala.
Add prawns and salt and let it cook for 5 mins with the lid on.
Add tamarind pulp and cook for 2 minutes. Keep this gravy aside.
For the Rice
Wash the rice and drain off the excess water and keep aside .
In a pressure cooker, add 3 tsp oil.
Add cloves, bay leaves, pepper and cardamom.
Add onion and sauté until they are soft and cooked.
Add Turmeric powder.
Add the washed rice and sauté for a while.
Add the prawns gravy to it and mix.
Add coconut milk along with 3 cups of water.
Add lemon juice and adjust the seasoning.
Mix well and cover the pressure cooker and let it blow 2 whistles .
Open the pressure cooker after 20 minutes or until it completely cools down.
Garnish with coriander leaves while serving.
